Parents protest against charter school decision

On Monday the Georgia state Supreme Court struck down a law that let the state approve charter schools even when local school districts turned them down. The local school districts had turned down ALL charter school applications, by the way — which is presumably why the legislature got into the act.

What intrigues me is the parent response. Clearly some of these charter schools command significant parental support. Since I believe parents need a stronger voice in education decisions, I’m pleased to see these folks speaking out. But I know that charter schools are a controversial topic for readers of this blog. What do you think?
